SCAPE STUDENT ACCOMODATION

LOCATION: SOUTH BRISBANE

INSTALLATION: MESH BARRIER & TRELLIS

CLIENT: SCAPE

ARCHITECT: PLUS ARCHIECTURE

BUILDER: HINDMARSH CONSTRUCTIONS

IRS installed 1500 square meters of Webnet to various elements of the 2 new student accommodation buildings in South Brisbane. This material adheres to all balustrade and fall protection safety standards for a crowd loaded balustrade which was the requirement for this project. Within the central bridge link walkway there was also a single section of mesh spanning over 17 levels doubling as both a trellis and balustrade for fall prevention. Two rooftop terrace areas on each building were encased in mesh to form a breakout space for students to relax will taking in the open spaces and city views.

Working closely with all stake holders IRS managed the engineering, design and installation of all mesh elements throughout the project. All of the mesh was installed via scaffold, harnesses and booms from all areas around the building. The tensioned stainless-steel mesh facilitates the natural flow of air through all sides of the structure and provides unobstructed views out of the walkway and buildings over to all parts of Brisbane.
